Arvest Bank throughout Northwest Arkansas participated in this year’s American Heart Association Heart Walk.  The walk was held on Saturday, April 21 at Arvest Ballpark and was a huge success! This year’s Heart Walk was in memory of the late former Arkansas Razorback Garrett Uekman who passed away late last year from a heart condition.

Arvest associates commit to raising money for the walk by asking friends, family and coworkers to support them financially to walk for better heart health.  All collected donations benefit AHA to promote better all-around cardiovascular health and awareness.

There are many reasons people from around Northwest Arkansas, including Arvest associates, participate in the NWA Heart Walk. Some do it out of the kindness and goodwill of their heart.  Many, however, do it because they have been personally affected by cardiovascular health issues.  Emily Boyd, Personal Banker for Arvest Bank in Fayetteville is one of those.  “I participate each year to raise awareness of heart disease. My dad was born with a heart condition and has gone through two major surgeries, my step-dad had a heart attack resulting in a triple bypass, and my grandfather died of a heart attack at 66-years-old,” said Boyd.  “I don’t think that people realize just how common heart disease is.”
