For 27 years, the city of Rogers has been celebrating its heritage with the annual Frisco Festival.  Each year citizens of Rogers and surrounding communities converge on downtown Rogers the last weekend of August to enjoy rides, live music, talent shows, vendor booths and of course food.

For the sixth year in a row, Arvest sponsored the Chilisalsapeno contest at the Frisco Festival.  This year 6 different banks, businesses and civic organizations from Northwest Arkansas competed to decide who had the best chili.  Attendees were allowed to sample chili and vote for their favorite recipe.  They also voted on what booth was most visually appealing in the “Showmanship” category. Likewise, judges tasted the chili and cast their votes for the best chili.

The Arvest booth featured famous people including Marilyn Monroe, James Dean and Audrey Hepburn. Attendees were able to walk the red carpet as special guest of Arvest and were greeted by, “Welcome to Hollywood” as they walked up to try a taste of the Arvest Famous Chili. The crowd loved and enjoyed the booth so much that they voted it #1 in the Showmanship category.

In addition to the chili competition, a salsa competition was also held.  Members of the community were asked to make their best salsa and allow judges to determine who makes the best salsa.

And as if the chili and the salsa hadn’t added enough spice to the day, five men entered the jalapeno eating contest.  Each contestant had two minutes to eat as many hot, spicy peppers as possible.

With all the mixtures of spices from the three contest Arvest came together and provided food, fun, conversation and plenty of HEAT!
